Reuters reported that Netflix, which has expanded into more than 60 countries, had once said it aimed to reach 200 countries by the end of 2016. Netflix last year had 43 million users in the US and 69.17 million worldwide.

Most new films and famous TV programs can be found on Netflix. And no ad banner appears in the videos.

Netflix is believed to apply more flexible service policies when conquering new markets. It offers a one-month free service to new clients. Users can stop using the service right after the one-month free use without having to pay any dong.

The service fee is quoted in Vietnamese and Vietnam dong. This, as commented by analysts, showed Netflix’s strong determination to satisfy Vietnamese clients.

Meanwhile, Netflix’s Vietnamese rivals can fix the problems because they understand the quality of internet connection and terminal devices in Vietnam.

Regarding the service fee, the required minimum fee of VND180,000 a month may make many Vietnamese balk at signing up.

It’s highly possible that Vietnamese would be satisfied with Pubvn and HDViet which charge them less than VND50,000 a month.

Tuoi Tre quoted inspectors from the Ministry of Information and Communication as affirming that Netflix was violating Vietnamese law. 

Meanwhile, Thoi bao Kinh Te SaiGon quoted its source saying that Netfix was not violating laws, because providing services across the border is allowed by the rules of WTO, of which Vietnam is a member.
