VietNamNet Bridge – The province chair Nguyen Hoang Anh told VietNamNet that Cao Bang will stop granting licences to mining projects in two years to effectively, sustainably manage its natural resources.
He said that from 2011 through 2015, Cao Bang will focus on six areas, not including mining. The province will maximally restrict illegal mining and illegal exporting rude ores.
The province still allows ongoing mining projects to operate but investors must ensure to protect the environment and share their profit to the locals.

Several months ago, VietNamNet published a reportage series about uncontrolled mining activities in Cao Bang. VietNamNet pointed out problems in licencing and managing mining projects in this project, illegal mining activities, illegal exporting rude ores to China as well as environmental problems caused by mining projects.
Cao Bang authorities cooperated with VietNamNet to inspect the situation and deal with problems raised by VietNamNet.
Cao Bang’s chair Hoang Anh told VietNamNet that from now to 2013, Cao Bang will make surveys of the deposit of minerals to conduct mining activities in a clear roadmap.
