VietNamNet Bridge – Earth Hour 2011 has been taking place from March 19 until 26 in the central coastal city of Nha Trang, Khanh Hoa province. The major event will be held on the evening of March 26.

 
This year the program is hosted by Khanh Hoa province, attracting the participation of many famous people, including singers Ho Ngoc Ha, Phuong Thanh, Siu Black, Uyen Linh, Van Mai Huong, Le Hieu, songwriter-singer Duc Huy, Miss Vietnam World Ngo Phuong Lan and model Truc Diem.

 

On March 26, from 8.30-9.30 pm lights around Nha Trang city, Cam Ranh and Khanh Hoa town will be turned off, including those at the Khanh Hoa People's Committee, along the main road beside the beach and in several big hotels.

 

"I hope the activities will encourage both locals and tourists to join the Earth Hour campaign, as well raise their awareness of the importance of saving power," said Le Xuan Than, deputy chairman of the Khanh Hoa People's Committee.

 

In the ancient capital city of Hue, a fashion show presenting the awarded creations of the fashion design contest Fashion and Climax Change will take place at the Nghinh Luong Dinh Court on March 26 evening.

 

The contest has been launched previously for university and college students in the city to support the Earth Hour campaign. All design materials must be made from recycled or environmental-friendly products.

 

A bicycle parade likely to draw hundreds of local youths will also be held. Joining other cities and provinces across the country, Hue will turn off the lights on the famed Trang Tien Bridge, in the Imperial Palace and in other residential areas.

 

Earth Hour program in Nha Trang city:

 

- More than 300 youths will join a campaign to collect rubbish on the beach of Nha Trang.

- At least 100 people will participate in the bicycle parades to support power saving and environmental protection efforts on March 19, 20 and 26.

- About 10,000 T-shirts with the Earth Hour logo will be handed out for free to locals and tourists throughout the week.

- Talks with the topic “Energy saving and environment protection”, with the participation of Ambassador of the Earth Hour 2011 will be held at two schools in Nha Trang on March 25.

- Turning off the lights in Nha Trang, Cam Ranh and Ninh Hoa towns from 8.30-9.30 pm of March 26.

- The major event will take place at the 2/4 Square in Nha Trang city with the presence of government and local officials, students and local people. The event will also see the participation of singers Ho Ngoc Ha, Phuong Thanh, Le Hieu, Siiu Black, Anh Khoa, Duc Huy, etc.
