From October 8 to 12, heavy rain in the central region and the northern delta provinces will occur due to the impact of cold air combined with the storm No 7.

From October 6-15, two storms are likely to appear in a row, according to the General Department of Meteorology and Hydrology’s newly issued special report on the situation of natural disasters in the next 10 days and the weather in Vietnam in the last three months of 2021.

According to the report, on the afternoon of October 5, a tropical depression formed over the southern waters of the East Sea, which is forecast to get stronger in the coming days.

This tropical depression is likely to strengthen into a storm, the 7th this year, heading towards the Hoang Sa (Paracel) archipelago and may directly affect the central region of Vietnam from October 8-12.

On October 10-11, a strong cold air wave is likely to affect Vietnam and interact with the tropical depression/storm. The development of this tropical depression/storm in the coming days will be complicated, with the possibility of heavy rain in the central region.

Moreover, another storm, the 8th of the year, may appear in the East Sea on October 12-13.

Heavy rain is expected in the northern part of the Central Highlands and the central region (from Quang Tri to Phu Yen).

The central provinces from Thanh Hoa to Quang Tri may suffer from particularly heavy rain.

The provinces/cities in the central and north Central Highlands need to pay special attention to the very high risk of floods, flash floods, landslides and large-scale inundation.

In the last three months of the year, it is forecast that about 5-7 storms/tropical depressions will form in the East Sea, of which 2-4 storms may directly affect Vietnam’s mainland.
