Labourers on Tuesday afternoon found the stone at a site in the province’s Quang Thanh Commune in Quang Dien District when they were digging soil to build a bridge.

Staff at the district’s culture division said they saw a yoni structure on top of a square stone and they believed this is an item of a Champa holy temple that used to exist around the site. Yoni is a structure that Champa people used to worship female sexual organs, part of their lingaism belief.

The staff will work with experts in Hue University of Sciences to prove their theory before suggesting a potential archeological excavation.

Quang Dien is part of the Champa district named Hoa Chau, which housed a military fort from the 14th century.
