September 30 is the deadline for the General Department of Sports and Physical Training to finalize the list of Vietnamese athletes who will representative the country at SEA Games 2011. After the text message scandal, the general department asked the Vietnam Tennis Federation to verify the case before approving the list of tennis players.

However, to early put an end to the scandal, chief of the Vietnamese sports delegation to SEA Games cum deputy chief of the General Department of Sports and Physical Training, Lam Quang Thanh, is now in HCM City to meet with HCM City Tennis Federation’s Chair, Nguyen Minh Tam, and tennis players.

On September 28, coach Truong Quoc Bao submitted his written explanation report to the General Department of Sports and Physical Training. The coach said that he did not send that bullying message. He denounced player Le Quoc Khanh of sending threatening messages to him if Khanh is not convened to the national squad.

As the text message scandal is not settled, the website of the HCM City Tennis Federation has posted an article entitled “Head of General Department of Sports and Physical Training’s tennis division, Doan Quoc Cuong is a double-think man.” The article has blown up the conflict between HCM City Tennis Federation’s Chairman, Nguyen Minh Tam and Mr. Cuong, and dug deep the tenseness between the HCM City Tennis Federation and the General Department of Sports and Physical Training.

The national tennis team ought to have convened on September 26, but the team is now in chaos owing to these happenings. It is a big difficulty for the team before SEA Games 2011, the most important sports event this year.
