ChatGPT is a natural language processing program developed by OpenAI with the ability to answer most questions from its users. After only two months since its launch, ChatGPT now has 100 million users.

Along with the quick rise of ChatGPT, many problems regarding the AI program are now being discussed. VietNamNet is introducing several articles about ChatGPT from the perspective of Vietnamese experts.

Expressing a calm attitude before the "wave" of ChatGPT, CEO of the Vietnam Open Resource Development Joint Stock Company (VINADES) Nguyen The Hung said that the AI tool shows the "maturity" of artificial intelligence (AI) products used in life and work.

Hung, founder of startup DauThau.info, a technology platform to help search for contractor information, told VietNamNet that before ChatGPT, AI was the "hot" keyword of the technology industry in the world as well as in Vietnam. A few years ago, Big data and AI were very popular in Vietnam. A series of technology products introduced as AI applications, including many chatbots, were launched. However, many products annoyed users and their performance was poor.

ChatGPT is also not a new product. This tool is built on the OpenAI open source platform and the GPT-3 self-learning AI model (launched in 2020). At that time, OpenAI was probably the only technology company that provided API access to GPT-3 AI to the public, everyone just needed to pay to use it. However, API access was only available to developers and programmers, so OpenAI received less attention than expected. At the end of 2022, OpenAI decided to launch ChatGPT – a product developed on a modified version of GPT-3, commonly known as version 3.5, for ordinary users, instead of only programmer as before.

From a media perspective, ChatGPT is a very successful marketing trick of OpenAI. ChatGPT is a sign of the "maturity" of AI products.

ChatGPT cannot replace programmers, but it will be an effective support tool in software development, such as helping people write code faster, even helping people learn programming.

Overall, ChatGPT is pretty cool! But it is a mistake to over-praise ChatGPT by saying that OpenAI can topple the Google search engine because they are two completely different products that will go hand in hand and serve different purposes. ChatGPT is just an AI product similar to many other AI products, and actual tests shows that it has many flaws. Therefore, products that reach certain "maturity" such as ChatGPT should be appropriately applied to products and services of enterprises.

OpenAI open source software is publicly available and free, so using OpenAI to develop a new AI product is not difficult. The matter is having enough data and resources to train it to achieve results like ChatGPT. Self-developing an AI product is probably only for big corporates with a budget of millions or even billions of US dollars. For small ones, the fastest way is to use the API that AIs like ChatGPT provide to integrate into their products and services.
