Medical staff check the body temperatures of all passengers at Đà Nẵng City's Railway Station. The city has set up seven checkpoints at main entrances to monitor COVID-19.

The city’s health department said response teams had tested nearly 2,000 commuters and tourists on 1,000 vehicles at the checkpoints in Liên Chiểu, Ngũ Hành Sơn, Hòa Vang and the city’s railway station. No new cases had been reported as of yesterday.

Face masks are compulsory for all medical staff and public bus commuters and tourists.

Manager of Đà Nẵng Railway station board Nguyễn Nhân said that 14 trains travelled through the station each day with an average of 3,000 passengers, but visitor number had declined to a third due to the serious impacts of COVID-19.

“We warn passengers to wear face masks all the time, and health declaration forms are provided at the exit. The station is supplying the masks for free as well as hand sanitiser,” Nhân said.

He warned that only 7 per cent of foreign visitors were wearing face masks, so these were urgent measures.

Nhân said foreign tourists should be instructed to use their masks all the time when they travel to public sites and destinations.

The city has 106 road transport routes from across the country and Laos.

Among the 1,100 people in quarantined sites, 561 had tested negative so far.

In Quảng Nam province, 42 people had completed 14 days in quarantine under strict conditions at the provincial military training centre. They all tested negative for COVID-19 before leaving the site.

A British COVID-19 patient (No 57), 66, was taken to the provincial general hospital in Núi Thành District for treatment on Sunday.

The province has also isolated 10 people who had close contact with the patient for heath checks and testing.

Quảng Nam has quarantined 158 people, including 101 foreigners, in Hội An, Điện Bàn and Núi Thành.

Medical samples of 255 have been taken, of which 194 have come back negative.

As of Monday, Việt Nam requires all Vietnamese and foreign citizens in Việt Nam to wear face masks in public places such as supermarkets, airports, bus terminals and public transport. — VNS
