The Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) and the Communist Party of China (CPC) commenced the 11th theoretical workshop in the Chinese city of Shanghai on June 17, sharing their experience in social management and development.

In his speech, Politburo member and Secretary of the CPV Central Committee Dinh The Huynh said Vietnam’s reform process began some 30 years ago as the cause of the people, by the people and for the people. Therefore, the CPV has continually paid heed to social issues, especially social welfares, in economic development.

Vietnam has reaped substantial achievements in ensuring welfares and developing and managing society, ultimately contributing to economic growth and political stability, noted Huynh, who is also the Chairman of the CPV Central Committee’s Commission for Communications and Education and the Chairman of the CPV Central Committee’s Theoretical Council.

In China, the CPC also attaches special importance to social aspects apart from economics and set up a strategic mission to build a harmonious socialist society, said Liu Qibao – Politburo member, Secretary of the CPC Central Committee’s Secretariat, and Chairman of the CPC Central Committee’s Publicity Department.

Since the CPC’s 18th national congress in 2012, the Party Central Committee has specifically promoted welfares, social governance and settlement of issues of public concern, he added.

The two sides said the theoretical workshop, held on June 17-18, will help them gain insight into socialism building in their respective countries. It is also a chance for them to exchange experience in social management and development for the sake of people’s happiness and wealth.

Earlier, they also had talks to share their views on relations between the Parties and States and on cooperation between the Vietnamese Commission for Communications and Education and the Chinese Publicity Department.
