VietNamNet Bridge – According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping will pay an official visit to Vietnam from December 20-22, at the invitation of the Vietnam Communist Party Central Committee and Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan.



Mr. Xi Jinping, 57, currently serves as the top-ranking member of the Secretariat of the Communist Party of China, the country's Vice President, Vice-Chairman of the Central Military Commission, President of the Central Party School and a member of the Politburo Standing Committee.

Mr. Xi Jinping is believed to be the presumptive heir to current General Secretary and President Hu Jintao and the emerging leader of China.

Two months ago, Vietnam and China signed an agreement on basic principles to solve sea-related issues during Vietnamese Party Chief Nguyen Phu Trong’s visit to China.

In September, a Chinese delegation led by State Councillor Dai Bingguo visited Vietnam and attended the fifth meeting of the China-Vietnam cooperation steering committee.

In the January-August period, the two-way trade turnover between Vietnam and China grew by 35 percent year on year to reach $25 billion. The figure is estimated to be $40 billion for the whole year.
