On Tuesday night, the Chinese worker named He Mao Xian, 30, was hospitalized at the Ayun Pa Town Hospital with multi-trauma and brain injury. The patient died about 20 minutes after admission.
It is reported that the Chinese worker was the victim of a landslide accident in a zinc ore mine of the Duc Long Gia Lai Group on the afternoon of Dec. 23.
A local official said at the time of the accident, there were four Chinese workers at the mine. He Mao Xian worked at this mine with his brother.
However, a representative of Duc Long Gia Lai Group said the Chinese workers were at the mine “waiting for entry procedures to be completed and they had not worked at the mine yet.”
The group’s CEO Pham Anh Hung said: "The Group does not know this worker. Perhaps he came to the mine from somewhere and met accident.”
The Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs of Gia Lai Province confirmed that the Chinese workers at the mine had not received work permits yet.
A police officer of Gia Lai province said that the zinc mine had been banned from operation but Duc Long Gia Lai was illegally mining there.
