The death toll of the cholera epidemic in Haiti has risen to 1,415, while the hospitalized people are 23,377, the United Nations Office for Humanitarian Affairs said Tuesday, quoting Haitian government figures.

According to the sanitary authorities, Artibonite, in the north of the country, continues being the most affected zone by the epidemic, as well as the departments in the center and northwest of the country.


According to the Haitian Public and Population Ministry, there are 56,901 infected people who have been assisted in different hospitals in the country since the epidemic began on Oct. 19.


Haiti will host presidential and legislative elections on Nov. 28.
