VietNamNet Bridge – The Hanoi Philharmonic Orchestra of the Vietnam National Academy of Music will host a concert under the baton of Christian Schumann at the Opera House, 1 Trang Tien Street in the capital at 8 p.m. on June 28.

The concert will feature Rhapsody Viet Nam of Do Hong Quan, Clarinet Concerto No 2 in E flat major, Op.74 of Carl Maria Von Weber and Symphony No 9 in E minor, Op.95: From the New World by Antonin Dvorak.

Schumann, 27, who is considered one of Germany’s finest, was born in Freiburg to Hungarian parents and had his first piano lesson at six. While still a schoolboy, he was accepted for preparatory classes in piano, conducting and music theory at the Freiburg Conservatory.

After completing high school, he began his studies in conducting and composition at the Franz Liszt Conservatory, graduating in 2007 before obtaining a position at Theater St. Gallen and debuting in March of this year at the Bavarian State Opera. He has led such internationally-renowned orchestras as the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra und the London Philharmonic Orchestra.

In Vietnam he is appearing for the third time as guest conductor with the Hanoi Philharmonic Orchestra of the Vietnam National Academy of Music.
