Many teachers and education experts have warned that the decision by the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) on setting a cap on the number of students in every class is not feasible in Hanoi.
Nine people have been taken into quarantine and put under observation in Da Nang after being detected with a slight fever. The nine were among a total of 8,300 tested at the international airport and seaports.
With the new school year set to start on September 5 most schools around the country are fully prepared to welcome students though a few others are worried about a shortage of classrooms.
VietNamNet Bridge - HCMC has 67,000 more students this year compared with the 2017-2018 academic year, while the number of classrooms has increased insignificantly.
VietNamNet Bridge – Public preschools and primary schools in HCM City are struggling to recruit enough teachers to meet enrolment this year, according to the city’s Department of Education and Training.
VietNamNet Bridge – Newly built schools in Hanoi cannot keep pace with the number of new residential quarters and urban areas being built in the city, resulting in overcrowded classrooms.
To make sure every school class in Vietnam has its own space, the Prime Minister, Nguyen Tan Dung, has approved the building of 5,000 classrooms and homes for teachers by 2015. In 2020, the Government will again assess the need.
