VietNamNet Bridge – To prepare for the world weightlifting championships in France and the Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games) in Indonesia next month, weightlifter Thach Kim Tuan is practicing very hard at HCM City-based Phu Tho Sports Center.
Before SEA Games 2011, Thach Kim Tuan and two other weightlifters will go to Paris to attend the world championships from November 5-7. He will return to Vietnam on November 8 and then go to Indonesia on November 14 for the SEA Games.
The weightlifting competition will be held in Palembang, Indonesia from November 18 to 21. Tuan is the golden hope of Vietnam at men’s 56kg category.
At competitions, Thach Kim Tuan achieved the weight of 127kg for snatch and 150kg for clean and jerk but in training, his records are higher, with 130kg for snatch and 290kg for both snatch and clean and jerk (with this weight, Vietnamese weightlifter Hoang Anh Tuan won a silver medal at the Olympic 2008).
Coach Huynh Huu Chi said that if Thach Kim Tuan can maintain his current performance, he could win a world medal in Paris.
To win a medal at the world championships and a gold medal at the SEA Games, Thach Kim Tuan is practicing very hard at the Phu Tho Sports Center in HCM City, under the instruction of coach Huynh Huu Chi.
Thach Kim Tuan performs two exercises a day, in the morning and on the
afternoon. Each exercise is two hours.
Coach Chi said that the biggest difficulty for Tuan and other Vietnamese weightlifters at
the upcoming world championships is the cold weather there. Because of low
temperature, athletes must eat a lot and their weight will increase but it they
do not eat much, they will be unqualified to compete.
The coach said that Thach Kim Tuan, 17, has made great progress. “He drills
very seriously. But his trait is his firm determination to overcome his rivals at any competition.”
Thach Kim Tuan’s exercise is enhanced gradually.
The weightlifter always tries to overcome all exercises.
