VietNamNet Bridge – The cloud computing service market is boiling with technology firms rushing to develop the services.

Nguyen Van Hien, General Director of iNet Solutions, said the end of the year would be the ripe time for the cloud computing technology in Vietnam.

It’s the time when technology firms can finish their preparations in infrastructure and services in order to commercialize cloud computing and provide services on the market. Hien said small and medium enterprises would be the strategic clients to use the services, because the biggest advantage of the technology is to help small firms to cut down expenses on information technology (IT) infrastructure.

Experts say that there would be two main models – public cloud and private cloud – on the market which allow enterprises to minimize expenses and use services in the most effective way.

Both domestic and foreign service providers have been ready to join the market. Vu Minh Tri, CEO of Microsoft Vietnam, said Microsoft plans to launch Office 365 Small Business Premium solution onto the market, which is designed for small businesses. The package includes email service, sharing schedule, website tool and web HD conference.

Tri has also said he can foresee the rapid development of cloud computing services in the time to come, especially in the small and medium enterprise market segment.

In fact, Microsoft has been keeping a keen eye on the Vietnamese market since May 2010, when Steve Ballmer, Microsoft’s CEO, in his working visit to Vietnam, had a discussion with Vietnam’s FPT Group on developing cloud computing services in Vietnam.

Following Microsoft, IBM and Intel have recently also announced that they would develop cloud computing in the Vietnamese market.

SAP, a software firm, has also announced that it wants a piece of the cloud computing cake in Vietnam. SAP would launch enterprise resource planning (ERP) solutions into the Vietnamese market, BI (business intelligence) tool and CRM (customer relationship management) on cloud computing basis.

Not only foreign big giants, but Vietnamese firms also have been making hectic preparations to jump into the field.

Hien believes that great opportunities have come to domestic firms, because the cloud computing services provided by foreign firms are not really suitable to domestic firms and still cannot satisfy their specific needs. Therefore, if domestic service providers can follow the right way in making investment, they would defeat foreigners in the home market.

Also according to Hien, in the past, iNet Solution concentrated in providing solutions to government agencies. However, over the last three years, it has been providing solutions and software pieces on the cloud computing basis to businesses as well.

July 18 was considered the day witnessing the official joining of DTS Company into the market, when it joined hands with Cisco System to implement VPS (virtual private server) service on the basis of Cisco-UCS technology in Vietnam.

In June 2012, FPT Telecommunication and FPT Software marketed Camera IP service on cloud computing basis. The solution not only has the function of supervising and storing data on the database center of FTI, but also has some other features, including the warning via email, messages, move discovering and face recognition.

Regarding the customer relation management, GEN has provided genCRM Cloud version since February 2012. To date, genCRM has got 30 clients. Meanwhile, in terms of corporate governance, NEO has introduced Cloud SME solution which has obtained 500 clients.
