With four rounds ahead, HAGL is poised for relegation as it is occupying the 8th place with 28 points, which is just five points higher than the bottomed-ranked Khanh Hoa and Hai Phong.
HAGL’s relegation battle will take place today against Khanh Hoa at Pleiku Stadium. A win would make HAGL safe for the time being.
Another important game will also take place today at Lach Tray Stadium between two lower-seated teams Hai Phong and Hoa Phat Hanoi.
Hai Phong is ranked the 13th place with 23 points while Hoa Phat is a little bit better at the 10th place with 26 points.
Hai Phong is offering a cash prize of VND1.5 billion for a win and an extra prize of VND3 billion if the team is not relegated to the First Division next season.
For its part, Hoa Phat Hanoi has also announced a VND1 billion cash prize for its team if it wins.
The 9th-ranked Ninh Binh is also in the game with a VND1 billion prize for a win and half of that amount for a draw.
Experts lament that as quality of Vietnam’s top-tier V-League has been standing still in recent years, cash prizes have kept piling up.
