In a crucial meeting with officials of the Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC), CMC Corporation reaffirmed its commitment to spearhead digital transformation and AI innovation across the nation. This October 25 session brought together top leaders from MIC and CMC to discuss the corporation's growth strategy, technological innovations, and global aspirations.
The event underscored CMC’s role as a pioneer in Vietnam’s ICT sector, as it became the fourth telecom and ICT enterprise to meet with the ministry, receiving strategic insights from MIC leaders.
Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung emphasized the critical need for Vietnamese firms to master technology. He encouraged CMC to increase its tech investment to more than 20%, stating, “It’s time CMC positions itself as a leading digital technology company, aiming not just for national but global stature.”
Impressive growth amid international expansion
CMC reported 12.4% revenue growth for the first half of 2024, meeting its financial targets. The corporation anticipates ending the fiscal year with a revenue of VND 9,231 billion and a profit of VND 550 billion. To solidify its international presence, CMC has opened new offices in South Korea and Japan and is planning additional expansions in the U.S. and Europe.
CMC’s Tan Thuan Data Center, certified with Uptime Tier III, experienced a 32% increase in service revenue, while the CMC Cloud division saw a remarkable 54% growth amid rising demand for cloud services.
As CMC competes on a global scale, Minister Hung advised the company to develop unique, value-based strategies. This approach, he suggested, would provide a competitive edge against global IT powerhouses, particularly those in markets like India.
In response, CMC leaders expressed optimism regarding MIC’s support in facilitating market access and accelerating regulatory advancements for digital infrastructure.
Driving digital transformation and ai innovation
As part of its role in Vietnam's digital transformation, CMC has been tasked with developing an AI-powered virtual legal assistant for Vietnamese citizens, a project aligning with the government’s broader digital goals.
Deputy Minister Nguyen Thanh Lam further urged CMC to collaborate with media to enhance Vietnam’s content industry and reinforce secure data storage solutions.
With a forward-looking vision, CMC aims to become a global leader in digital technology and AI by 2028, setting projections for annual growth above 20%, a workforce of over 10,000, and revenue exceeding $1 billion.
Minister Hung expressed his confidence in CMC's growth potential, noting, “CMC’s 31-year journey reflects a deep dedication to advancing Vietnam’s technological capacity on the world stage.”
In closing, Chairman Nguyen Trung Chinh expressed gratitude for MIC’s support, affirming CMC’s commitment to advancing Vietnam’s technological leadership globally.
