Coach Mai Duc Chung.
The Asian qualifier round of U22 Asian Championships will be held from June 22 to July 9 in Myanmar. U22 Vietnam is in group G with South Korea, Malaysia, Myanmar, Taiwan and the Philippines. To prepare for this tournament, the team will convene in Hanoi from June 5.
According to the previous plan, announced by the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), Chung, who has just returned home from a long training course in Europe, is the coach of U22 Vietnam. However, the coach withdrew, saying that he could not train the team due to his busy schedule.
However, VFF Secretary General Ngo Le Bang said that Chung cannot lead the U22 Vietnam squad because he failed to get a certificate B in accordance with regulations of the Asia Football Confederation (AFC).
After completing his upcoming course, he will coach Vietnam’s U23 squad to participate in the Southeast Asian Games in 2013 (the 27th SEA Games).
The VFF official said that coach Lu Dinh Tuan will take over Chung’s position to lead the U22 squad for the Asian qualifiers in Myanmar.
VFF will introduce the coaching boards of the national team and the U22 squad this week. At this moment, it is nearly sure that Phan Thanh Hung will be the coach of the national team and Lu Dinh Tuan will lead the U22 team.
