As many as 28 passengers survived by a hair's breadth after an express coach plunged into a roadside field upside down in Binh Duong province on July 30.

There were no reported deaths, but many passengers were injured, including the driver.

The accident happened during the rush hour in the morning when the vehicle was travelling along Hanoi Boulevard from Ho Chi Minh City to Vung Tau city.

When the coach was passing Di An town, Binh Duong province, driver Le Van Tam, 44, had some breathing difficulties and lost his control, witnesses said.

The passenger vehicle skidded off the road and hit three roadside guard posts and a big tree before crashing into the field and overturning.

Local people and passers-by managed to take all the passengers from the coach. Many were bleeding and suffering injuries to their heads, legs and arms.

The accident caused long traffic chaos on Hanoi Boulevard.

A rescue truck was mobilised to retrieve and tow the coach away from the field, and traffic then returned to normal.
