coach polking makes debut appearance at hanoi police fc picture 1

Polking has been the local side’s sixth coach for the past just two years since they were promoted to the V.League 1, after the likes of Paulo Foiani, Flavio Cruz, Gong Oh-kyun, Kiatisuk, and Tran Tien Dai.

Since promotion, no one has taken the helm for more than four months in the hot seat.

Hanoi Police FC are currently in fourth position in the league with 31 points from 20 games, behind Nam Dinh FC, Binh Duong FC, and Binh Dinh FC.

This is the second time that Polking has worked in Vietnamese football during his career. Previously he coached Ho Chi Minh City FC during the 2020 - 2021 season.

Polking will lead Hanoi Police FC in his debut match against Hong Linh Ha Tinh FC on May 30.

The Brazilian-German coach, 58, was appointed as head coach of the Thailand national team in September 2021. His contract was subsequently renewed after Thailand defeated Vietnam in the semi-finals and Indonesia in the finals to win the 2020 AFF Cup.

At the 2022 Southeast Asian (SEA) Games, Polking took Thailand into the final where they ultimately lost out to hosts Vietnam.

Later Thailand went on to trounce Vietnam in the final to win the 2022 ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) Cup.

In November 2023, Polking was sacked following Thailand's poor performance in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
