With the latest transfer market moves, the V-League 2025/26 is predicted to heat up not only on the pitch but also on the coaches’ benches.

V-League 2024/25 witnessed many coaches losing their jobs mid-season.

The 2024/25 season left fans with many emotions, not only because of the thrilling title race but also the intensity of the coaching carousel. It set a record for mid-season managerial changes, with no one spared - not even successful foreign coaches like Mr. Popov or domestic managers trusted almost absolutely, such as Nguyen Duc Thang and Le Duc Tuan.

Statistics show that 7 out of 14 clubs changed head coaches mid-season. Binh Duong (now renamed B.TP.HCM) and SHB Da Nang were the most unstable, each making three coaching changes.

There were many reasons behind these shake-ups, but the most common was underwhelming performance. Several managers were forced to leave the “hot seat” after just a few rounds.

A warning for the 2025/26 campaign

The coming season is expected to be even more intense on the coaching front. Clubs are making major investments in both domestic and foreign players. From Ninh Binh, Thep Xanh Nam Dinh, Hanoi FC, CAHN, The Cong Viettel to CA TP.HCM, all are showing huge ambition by signing top stars worth millions of USD.

Such investment comes with heightened ambition and expectations, meaning the pressure on head coaches will be greater than ever. They will not only face demands from club management but also from star players in the squad and passionate fans.

Managing a dressing room full of big egos is a challenge in itself. If results do not come, keeping the head coach position will be no easy feat.

With many strong contenders for the title, the V-League 2025/26 promises to be intense. Club leaders may be quicker to act, sometimes making coaching changes after just a few poor performances.

Therefore, the coming season could see even more managers losing their jobs. To survive this storm of expectations, a head coach will need not only tactical prowess but also exceptional psychological management skills.
