Despite record export revenues, Vietnam’s coconut industry faces a critical shortage of raw materials as supplies are exported to China for further processing.
Fresh coconuts, a burgeoning contributor to Vietnam's agricultural exports, are poised to make a substantial impact on the nation's economy through increased shipments to China, according to officials.
The Vietnam Coconut Association has forecast that coconut exports will hit 1 billion USD this year, driven by the signing of a protocol for official export of fresh coconuts to China.
Vietnamese coconut growers and businesses are excited to expand production to meet the domestic and foreign demand which is expected to increase in the coming time.
Vietnam is optimistic about increasing its coconut exports as several countries are welcoming Vietnamese coconuts.
