"I am very happy with my little spot in Hollywood, which I will call my little corner of England, next to my partner Emma Thompson," Firth said when addressing a crowd which also included his wife, Livia, and Guy Pearce, a co-star who played King Edward VIII, the King's brother in the historical drama.
A best actor nominee in last year's Academy Awards, Golden Globe Awards and Screen Actors Guild Awards, Firth also won best actor at the British Academy of Film and Television Arts Awards in 2010.
Firth, 50, is a classically-trained theater actor who also appeared in a number of films and television productions. His other film credits include "Mama Mia!", "Shakespeare in Love" and "The English Patient".
