Accordingly, on November 19, 2018, at the 6th session of the XIV National Assembly, the National Assembly passed the Law on Coast Guard 2018, which took effect from July 1, 2019 and replaces the Ordinance on the Vietnam Coast Guard 2008.

Implementing Decision No. 891/QD-TTg dated July 17, 2019 of the Prime Minister approving the list of items in each topic and assigning relevant agencies to make the codification for each subject, the Ministry of National Defense was in charge of implementation of codification of the 8th subject "Vietnam Coast Guard" under the 25th theme "National Defense".

Therefore, the portal of the Ministry of National Defense has published the results of the codification for the subject "Vietnam Coast Guard" to seek comments.

In Resolution No. 48/NQ-CP, dated June 13, 2017, the Government approved the codification of the Vietnam Coast Guard subject and many other topics.

According to legal experts, the construction of the codification in Vietnam is very important, contributing to a new change in the quality of the legal system, ensuring the consistency, synchronization and publicity, transparency of the legal system, thereby effectively serving the building of a Socialist Vietnam State of Law in the context of increasingly international integration. The codification helps individuals and organizations easily search and apply valid legal documents, contributing to improving people's confidence in the legal system.
