According to HCMC’s survey on legal compliance in food safety and hygiene reported to the Ministry of Justice on Tuesday, most of the surveyed street vendors (75.5%) consider food hygiene a critical issue and up to 70% say they know relevant regulations. This shows that food hygiene has become familiar with street food vendors.

They also know about specific regulations on ensuring food safety such as wearing gloves to prepare food. 94% of respondents say this regulation is appropriate.

According to the HCMC government, certain street vendors have yet to know, understand or pay attention to food safety regulations, and thus violations of such regulations among food vendors are prevalent.

Television is a medium where 70% of respondents learn about regulations on food safety while one-third know those regulations through training courses. Newspapers and radio have also made them aware of food safety issues.
