With about 500 ski resorts of various scales, Japan now tops the world for the number of skiers and the artificial snow-making technology that serve the need of ski resorts when the amount of natural snow is insufficient. 
 
Snow Town & Ice Rink, a company under of Showa Holdings, has researched snow-making technologies in Japan and successfully improved the indoor snow amusement parks. It can make snow unmelted at room temperature - about 20 degrees Celsius with the help of snow machine and building structure, insulation materials, calculation of wind circulation in the area ... The company has become famous for its snow-making technology and franchised its business model under the brand name Snow Town.


Sharing the know-how, Kotaro Maru, Director of Entertainment Business Development and Planning of Showa Holdings, said the snowflakes were made with very low water content compared to conventional snow-making methods. As the result, the super-small and super-light snowflakes were difficult to melt even at normal temperatures.
 
At operating temperatures of 20-24 degrees Celsius, snow made by Snow Town was less melted than those made by other snow machines and could retain up to 80% in a longer time. With those qualities, Snow Town could keep the snow under normal conditions without expensive chillers or freezers, thus saving a lot of energy and costs.

As can be seen from projects, owner only paid 60% of the initial cost and 10% of running cost compared to the application of other technologies or models.
 
Sadly, however, Kotaro Maru said, Japanese population was getting older, the birth rate in Japan was declining, and the number of skiers was decreasing accordingly. 
 
"The advanced snow-making technology in Japan” needed introducing and applying in other Asian countries, where the number of births increased significantly. Thailand, Vietnam and Indonesia are the selected destinations.
 
"In 2015, we launched the first Snow Town model in Bangkok. We were the founder, supplier of equipment, designer of architecture and logo. Inside Snow Town, we integrated complementary entertainment services for a wide range of customers including restaurants for families, night bar for youth, music and super-vision for events,” said Kotaro Maru. 
 
Two years of operation with very satisfactory results is a good start for the next journey.

Recognizing the similarity between the climate of Thailand and Vietnam, and after a market survey on the demand for entertainment of the Saigoneses, especially the youth,  Phuoc Thanh Construction Corporation developed Snow Town model in 2016 on an area of  4,000m2.

Tran Viet Linh, a tourist from the central city of Vinh, said excitedly: "It is hard to imagine  that snow can be kept at room temperature. I feel very comfortable to experience Japanese culture and games in this pleasant atmosphere and climate. Taking photo here is so special and romantic like Korean drama."

With the increasing entertainment demand of the Vietnamese, especially the youth, Snow Town & Ice Rink Company is expecting this model will soon be of interest to investors and to be launched in big cities in Vietnam such as Hanoi, Da Nang and Hai Phong. 
 
People in those cities and the surrounding areas will have chance to experience the cool European atmosphere and explore new snow games. It will also be an opportunity for the shopping centers and places where this model is located to attract customers and grow business.
