VietNamNet Bridge – Chairman Nguyen Cong Tien of Xuan Yen Commune in the central province of Thanh Hoa was filmed while playing cards. The clip was sent to the higher authorities and relevant agencies.

On March 12, Mr. Ha Duc Tuan, deputy party secretary of Tho Xuan district, Thanh Hoa province, said that after investigating the complaints against Mr. Nguyen Cong Tien, 49, Chairman of Xuan Yen commune for gambling with three other people at his home, the district police imposed administrative fine of VND1.5 million ($75) on Tien and the involved people.

At 20h30 on February 11, 2013, Mr. Tien allowed three people to gamble at his home and the commune chairman also joined them. Some people filmed and denounced the chairman for gambling.

The party committee of Tho Xuan district asked the local police to urgent invest the denouncement.

"Tien is the head of the commune so he will be seriously punished to set an example," said Tuan, vice party chief of Tho Xuan district.

Tien was appointed as chairman of Xuan Yen commune in 2012.
