The victim in this odd jealousy case is Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Thanh, 36, Deputy Party Secretary of Tan Luoc commune, Binh Tan district of Vinh Long province.

Mr. Nguyen Van Dung, Party Secretary of Tan Luoc commune has confirmed the information. The Inspection Commission of Binh Tan District set up an inspection team to check the case and to discipline Phong for violating the rules on ethics and lifestyle of Party members.

According to initial information, at noon of September 13, Phong and Ms. Tran Thi T, 28, visited Phong’s relative in Can Tho City.

While drinking with his friends, on suspicion of Phong having another paramour, T was very jealous and used a knife to cut off the ear of Phong. The official was immediately hospitalized.

After more than a week in the hospital for the plastic surgery, Phong has recovered, but he did not go to the office, reasoning that he had to go to HCM City for treatment.

It is known that Phong has been married for a long time but he has had affairs with T. In early February this year, after this liaison was exposed, Phong served a warning from the Inspection Commission of the Binh Tan District Party Committee and promised not to repeat.
