VietNamNet Bridge - Computer application writer Huynh Nguyen Huy Sinh won VND1 billion in the ‘Samsung Bada Developer Challenge,’ that was announced on Sunday.


Sinh’s application ‘Quan va Ti Quay’ won the entertainment category. The billion dong prize money broke the Vietnamese record for the biggest cash prize for an application writing contest by a company.

Three first prizes worth VND100 million each went to application-writers - Pham Tuan Anh for his ‘Mystery Puzzle’, Nguyen Huy Dung for ‘Vi Tien’ (Purse) and Nguyen Bao Anh for ‘Memory Studio’.

The contest ‘Samsung Bada Developer Challenge’ was one of the biggest competitions for mobile-phone application-writers.

Through three rounds, the contest attracted 289 application-writers with 436 entries. Contestants were IT students, freelance, amateur and professional application-writers from around the country.

The total prize money was VND2.5 billion. The awards also included five second prizes worth VND50 million each, 20 third prizes worth VND20 million each and 100 consolation prizes worth VND5 million.

At the award ceremony, the Vietnam Record Book Center (Vietkings) granted certificates for Samsung Electronics Vietnam, for two Vietnam Guinness records, including the mobile application-writing contest with the biggest prize and the online application contest with the most entries in the shortest time.
