Condolences offered for death of RoK ex-President

President Truong Tan Sang sent condolences to the Republic of Korea (RoK) over the decease of the country's ex-President Kim Young-sam on Monday.

The message was delivered to RoK President Park Geun-hye and the bereaved family. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh also extended condolences to RoK Foreign Minster Yun Byung-se the same day.

Deputy Foreign Minister Ho Xuan Son, on behalf of the Vietnamese Government, paid tribute to the late leader and wrote in the funeral book at the RoK Embassy in Ha Noi yesterday.

Kim Young-sam was born in 1927 and served as RoK President from 1993 to 1998. He passed away in Seoul on November 22.

Vietnam, China boost practical prosecution ties

Chief Judge of the Supreme People's Court of Viet Nam Truong Hoa Binh and his Chinese counterpart Cao Jianming discussed measures to enhance procuracy ties in a pragmatic and effective manner during their working session in Beijing yesterday.

Procurator-General of the Supreme People's Procuratorate of China Cao Jianming welcomed the Vietnamese delegation to the ninth ASEAN-China Prosecutors General Conference slated for today in Nanning city, Guangxi province.

He noted that the two agencies had strengthened criminal judicial assistance and shared experience in anti-corruption since they signed a cooperation agreement in 2012.

He asked for a normative cooperation mechanism in judicial support in criminal cases, especially at border provinces, to step up the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between Viet Nam and China.

The Vietnamese chief judge said the two sides had arranged a number of activities to enhance bilateral procuracy partnership under the 2012 cooperation agreement.

He proposed increasing all-level delegation exchanges, personnel training, crime prevention, and mutual judicial assistance in criminal matters in the coming time.

Vice President supports stronger trade union ties with Belarus

Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan has expressed her hope that trade unions of Vietnam and Belarus would effectively realise signed agreements, facilitate experience sharing and ties among their member organisations, contributing to bilateral cooperation.

The Vice President made the remark at a reception in Hanoi on November 24 for Chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus (FTUB) Mikhail Orda.

She spoke highly of the outcomes of recent talks between FTUB and the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour, adding that since establishing ties in 1992, they have worked actively together across diverse areas and at international forums.

Orda said he is impressed by Vietnam’s socio-economic progresses during the visit, his first to the country.

He stressed the need for young generations to foster bilateral friendship and cooperation, adding that his visit is meant to discuss specific cooperation plans, including sending Belarusian experts to work at the Vietnam Trade Union University.

Saint Kitts and Nevis wishes for closer relations with Vietnam

The Government and people of Saint Kitts and Nevis wish to promote relations with Vietnam in many fields, especially agriculture.

Saint Kitts and Nevis Governor-General Samuel Weymouth Tapley Seaton made the statement during his recent reception for Vietnamese Ambassador Duong Minh, who presented his letter of credentials.

The Governor-General hailed the socio-economic achievements Vietnam made during its reform process.

For his part, Ambassador Minh affirmed that Vietnam treasures and wants to develop friendship and win-win cooperation with Saint Kitts and Nevis.

The diplomat briefed the host on the country’s prominent achievements in recent times and key sectors of its strengths, including agriculture, telecommunications, electronics, consumer products, and construction materials.

He suggested authorities of Saint Kitts and Nevis facilitate Vietnamese businesses’ trade promotion and investment in the Caribbean island.

The ambassador promised to do his utmost to augment bilateral relations, bringing benefits to both countries’ people.

On the occasion, Ambassador Duong Minh paid courtesy visits to Speaker of the S aint Kitts and Nevis National Assembly Franklyn Brand, officials from Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Agriculture, and from the S aint Kitts and Nevis Chamber of Industry and Commerce.
