Doctors said that the operation must be carried out very soon to save the twins since they do not have an anus.
Prof. Nguyen Thanh Liem, the hospital’s director, said that the hospital received the twin on May 8, from the Ha Giang Polyclinic.
The 4.2kg pair of twins was given birth by Hoang Thi Thach, 21, through Caesarean section at the Ha Giang Polyclinic on the evening of May 6. They have two hearts but share one sex organ and two kidneys.
The twins were taken to the Central Pediatrics Hospital in Hanoi on May 8, where they underwent a CT scan and other tests.
Dr. Liem said that this is a complicated case and the operation must be conducted as soon as possible to save the babies from ileus.
“This is an extremely difficult case so we cannot anticipate anything,” he added.
Previously, the hospital successfully separated two conjoined twins: Cu-Co and Cuc-An.
