The Dong Chau – Khe Nuoc Trong Nature Reserve is located west of Le Thuy District, Quang Binh Province. This reserve has rich flora and fauna and spectacular waterfalls amidst an old forest. With a descent terrain, the streams in the nature reserve have several waterfalls, including the prominent Duong Cam Waterfall.
With a height of over 50 meters, Duong Cam Waterfall possesses water streams pouring down vigorously through large rock cliffs. As the reserve has a rich system of streams and waterfalls, the area around Duong Cam is surrounded by a dense primeval forest with many species listed in the very rare category and some precious trees that are hundreds of years old. Seen from above, the waterfall looks like a piano in the middle of a vast forest, creating an overwhelming landscape.
Many travel companies organize trekking tours to explore the Dong Chau – Khe Nuoc Trong Nature Reserve. The highlight of the journey is witnessing and canyoning over the Duong Cam Waterfall.
Tourists are equipped with helmets, ropes, and other safety equipment. Before canyoning, tourists must wear safety belts and be trained on using each type of safety equipment and climbing techniques.
Nevertheless, travelers must pass through dense forests to get to the waterfall. Trekking under the canopy of the primeval forest, enjoying the mountainous atmosphere and relaxing amid the green landscape of the nature reserve, unaffected by external factors, are memorable experiences in life.
The cool and clear springs are an ideal stopover for tourists on the journey to discover the southwestern region of Quang Binh. If tourists do not like adventure and want to simply experience nature, they can bathe in these springs or camp overnight with friends and family.
