VietNamNet Bridge – A 31-ton Buddha statue made from sapphire is now placed at the Truc Lam Tay Thien Monastery in Tam Dao, Vinh Phuc Province.

The 3.5m tall statue was created over nearly two years by senior artisans from Hanoi and Da Nang.

Many Buddhist followers have flocked to the monastery to admire the giant statue.

The statue was produced from six blocks of coridon rocks, which contain 80-90 percent of sapphire.

The statue is put on a sapphire-made lotus-shaped support.

The Buddha holds an orient pearl.

Buddhists touch the statue to wish for luck.
