Hanoi Industrial Promotion and Development Consultancy Centre under the city's Industry and Trade Department on Wednesday launched a handicraft product design contest.

Deputy Director of the centre Vuong Dang Hoa said that the annual contest aimed to encourage individuals and organisations in the capital city to create new impressive unique designs for local handicraft products, especially those used as gifts for domestic and foreign visitors.

The products will help increase the competitiveness of the city's handicraft production and promote the images, culture and people of Hanoi, Hoa said.

This year's contest will draw new designs for 300 handicraft products. Participants will have experts consult in brainstorming, designing and completing outcomes.

Entries must be sent from August 1 to 30, 2022, to Hanoi Industrial Promotion and Development Consultancy Centre at No176 Quang Trung, Ha Dong District, Hanoi.

A maximum of 90 winning products will be displayed at Hanoi 2022 Handicraft Gifts Fare in October and other events promoting the city's handicrafts.

In 2021, the contest attracted nearly 90 organisations and individuals with more than 250 new products. Ninety products of 82 organisations and individuals were awarded prizes by the Hanoi People's Committee.
