and his collection introduced at the Long-legged Festival 2011 |
I was born in HCM City and moved to the US at the age of nine. When I was a boy, I liked fashion very much and I often played with doll clothes. However, I studied electronic engineering and worked as an engineer for ten years. After that, I decided to pursue my passion for fashion.
Initially I worked with American designers. I introduced my collections in the Fashion New York program. After that I have had chances to work with Vietnamese designers.
Why did you return home to introduce your designs at the Long-legged Festival?
At first, I did not have an opportunity to work with Vietnamese American in the US, until the Miss Vietnam Global pageant held in the US two years ago.
My representative, Jody Trinh, asked me whether I wanted to return to Vietnam to introduce my designs. I wondered that my designs are hand-made and in classical style so they might not be suitable to Vietnamese. After learning about Vietnam’s fashion industry with Jody, I decided to return to Vietnam. I also want to do something in my home country.

Actually, if you are talented, they don’t discriminate who you are and where you come from. But, there are a few Vietnamese Americans working in the fashion industry. The road that I have passed and the future road is rocky but the more it is difficult, the more I have to make effort and be creative.
After the Long-legged Festival, do you plan to attend other fashion shows and open your shop in Vietnam?
Perhaps I will, if I have time and appropriate conditions. I will also consider opening a fashion shop in Vietnam. Why not?
Cory designed clothes for Kelly Rowland (former member of Destiny’s Child), Nicole Scherzinger, Melody, Pussy Cat Dolls, actress Erica Hubbard, Miss Universe Jimena Navarrete Rosete, supermodel Heather Marks, etc.
His designs appeared on Trigger Magazine, Hifash Magazine, Herworld, USD Today, Viet Life Magazine, Maxim, USA Haute Couture, Matte, etc.
