Halloween draws young makeup and costume enthusiasts to public spaces to show off their creations. On October 31, Nguyen Hue Street in Ho Chi Minh City was filled with eerie characters who engaged in lively exchanges with visitors.
Anh Khoa, from Tan Binh District, dressed as the character “Possessed Hermit Crab,” posed for a photo with a friend dressed as Zoro. Khoa said he spent about three months conceptualizing and handcrafting the costume. The headpiece, made entirely of clay and cotton, was the highlight of his outfit. The costume, he shared, cost him around 10 million VND.
One elaborate costume drew inspiration from the character Medusa, featuring her iconic snake hair. Titled “Medusa’s Curse,” this handcrafted piece caught the attention of many onlookers. Tit shared that he ordered materials from abroad, spending approximately 7 million VND to complete the 5 kg headpiece.
“We get into the Halloween spirit every year, putting in lots of effort and money for these costumes, but it’s always worth it for the experience,” said Duy Nguyen.
Thanh Vu, dressed as a three-headed demon, startled passersby with his costume. He shared that the piece was crafted from resin, silicone, and aluminum foil.
Parents joined in the fun, bringing their children dressed in various characters to experience Halloween night.
Phuong Chi and Phuong Uyen wore Halloween costumes hand-sewn by their mother, who added her personal touch to the Halloween celebration.
Students from Ho Chi Minh City University of Fine Arts took advantage of the night by offering face-painting services to visitors on Nguyen Hue Street.
