In Ho Chi Minh City, the morning of December 31 welcomed residents and visitors with cool weather and a high of just 31°C.
Nguyen Hue Walking Street, adorned with the charm of flocks of pigeons, exuded a peaceful yet festive atmosphere.
Meanwhile, in Hanoi, parks such as Lenin Park on Dien Bien Phu Street were decorated with vibrant floral displays welcoming the new year.
Major stages have been completed at key locations in both cities for tonight's celebrations.
At Nguyen Hue Walking Street, Ho Chi Minh City will host a grand "Countdown Party 2025 – Live the Moment," featuring performances by renowned artists, including People's Artist Thanh Lam, Tung Duong, Soobin Hoang Son, Trong Hieu, ST Son Thach, Minh Hang, and the band Buc Tuong (The Wall).
A similar stage has been set up at the Saigon River Park in Thu Duc City, drawing groups of young people eager to participate, despite official entry starting at 4 p.m.
Ho Chi Minh City will also feature firework displays at three locations
A high-altitude display near the entrance of the Saigon River Tunnel in Thu Duc City. Two lower-altitude displays at Dam Sen Cultural Park (District 11) and Van Phuc Urban Area (Thu Duc City).
In Hanoi, a spectacular stage has been erected at Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc Square near Hoan Kiem Lake.
Another grand setup at the Revolution of August Square will connect live with stages in other cities, including Hai Phong, Hue, and Ho Chi Minh City, as well as with Studio S9 at the Vietnam Television (VTV).
In preparation for the midnight firework displays, installations began early on December 31 at sites like Le Thai To Street near Hoan Kiem Lake and Van Quan Lake in Ha Dong District.
Hanoi plans six firework displays across five locations, including districts like Hoan Kiem, Ha Dong, and Nam Tu Liem, as well as Son Tay Town and Dong Anh District.
One prominent site is the former Formula 1 track near My Dinh Stadium, offering a spacious plaza with clear views for tens of thousands of spectators.
This year marks a long-awaited return of New Year’s Eve fireworks in Hanoi, reigniting excitement among residents eager to witness the spectacular displays. Preparations are expected to conclude by late afternoon.
