VietNamNet Bridge – Hanoi Police have detected a large-scale false money case in Hanoi, seizing more than $100 million and Eur200 million of false banknotes.


Hanoi Police Agency on September 19, prosecuted and arrested Nguyen Dinh Loi, 47, in Hanoi and Nguyen Cong Hanh, 62, from Ninh Binh province for circulating false money.

Earlier, on June 27, police officers caught in the act Pham Minh Thang, 43, from Thanh Xuan district, Hanoi selling $20,000 of false money to Nguyen Thi Thu Ha, 44, at an air ticket booking office in Hoan Kiem district, Hanoi.

From this case, police has unveiled a large-scale false money trading ring.

Thang declared that the $20,000 of false USD came from Tran Thi Ngoc Lanh, 41, from Tay Ho district, Hanoi. Lanh asked Thang to sell the false USD for her.

Lanh declared that the money belonged to Nguyen Cong Hanh, 62, from Ninh Binh province. Hanh asked Lanh to sell the false money with the price of VND100 million ($5,000).

Loi, once again, declared that he took the false USD and Euro from Nguyen Dinh Loi, 47, from Ba Dinh district, Hanoi.

Police seized two Euro banknotes with face value of Eur1 million from Hanh and 106 USD banknotes with face value of $1 million. Notably, the highest face values of the USD and Eur in the market are $100 and Eur500.

Police keep investigating the case.
