VietNamNet Bridge – Several cracks have been spotted along the newly constructed Dong-Tay (East-West) Avenue in HCM City, according to Lao Dong (Labour) newspaper.


It is not known what has caused the cracks, along with parts of the road that appear to have subsided. The cracks are 1-2 centimetres wide, 5-7 centimetres deep, and stretch from one side of the avenue to the other.


The road, also known as Vo Van Kiet Avenue, is nearly 22 kilometres long, running across 8 districts.


Two thirds of the avenue have recently been in use, while the rest is under construction.


* Police hunt man who attacked journalist


Central Nghe An Province's Police Department is searching for a person who stabbed a journalist with a knife on Monday at a local gas station in Vinh City.


The journalist, named Vo Thanh Mai, of Nong nghiep Viet Nam (Viet Nam Agriculture) newspaper's Nghe An Branch, was stabbed in his left arm while he was filling up at a gas station on Monday evening.


Mai was taken to Thanh An-Sai Gon General Hospital in the city.
