VietNamNet Bridge – A crane at the construction site of Lach Tray Bridge in the northern port city of Hai Phong collapsed on Wednesday morning, killing two workers on the spot, including the crane driver who was trapped in the cabin.

At 7.30am, workers of the Bridge Construction JSC No. 12 were moving building materials at the construction site of Lach Tray Bridge, part of the Hanoi - Hai Phong highway project, when the 30m high crane collapsed.

The crane fell on four workers, killing one immediately and seriously injuring three others. The crane driver, who was trapped in the cabin, died.

Of the five victims, two are natives of Hai Phong city and three from the northern province of Thai Binh.

The three injured people were taken to the Czech - Vietnam Hospital, while the crane driver’s body was removed from the cabin.

On-site workers were ordered to continue working as the rescue teams performed their tasks.
