After the meeting of Hai Phong authorities on February 7, many officials of Vinh Quang commune and Tien Lang district were suspended from work. Local police have also specified the man who drove a bulldozer to level Vuon’s house and some people who were related to the demolishment.

The same day, Hai Phong city’s Party Secretary Nguyen Van Thanh said the city had instructed local police to urgently investigate the case.

While both officials of Vinh Quang commune and Tien Lang district confirmed to not involve in leveling Vuon’s house and not know who did it, some local residents accused of Vinh Quang commune and Tien Lang district’s officials to hire them to level Vuon’s house, at the price of VND1.5 million.

On February 8 evening, lawyer Nguyen Viet Hung from the Kinh Do Law Office, told VNExpress online newswire that he was licensed to defend Doan Van Vuon and Doan Van Quy.

The general said that it is unsatisfactory that only officials of Tien Lang district and Vinh Quang commune are punished. He said that this “heinous” case must have the involvement of the highest leaders of Hai Phong city.
