VietNamNet Bridge – The home of Mr. Mai Van Canh, 54, in the central province of Thanh Hoa, has become a destination of curious people for the last three weeks, since his coconut tree began ‘crying.’

Canh said that this tree was planted by his grandfather over 70 years ago. It is now 17-18m tall. In late 2010, the tree showed signs of withering. In early 2011, its leaves all fell. Can considered chopping down the tree but his mother, 86, did not allow.

In early 2012, the tree suddenly revived and yielded fruit again. Around three weeks ago, Canh discovered that water dripped from the tree all day and night. The higher the temperature was, more water dripped from the tree.

For over one hour, Canh could collect 400-500ml of water from this tree. The water is yellow, like tea and tasteless.

Mr. Do Xuan Mong, 72, a neighbor, said that many families near Canh’s home planted coconut, but not one ‘cries’ like this tree.

“It is strange because water has dropped from the tree for several weeks. Where does the water come from?” a local man questioned.

Since the tree began crying, hundreds of curious people have come to Canh’s house to see the special tree.
