VietNamNet Bridge – First Secretary of the Cuban Communist Party’s Central Committee and President of the State Council and Council of Ministers, Raul Castro left Hanoi on July 10, concluding his four-day official friendship visit to Vietnam.

During his stay, the Cuban leader held talks with Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, President Truong Tan Sang and National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung, during which the two sides discussed measures to deepen their comprehensive cooperation in various fields, including economics, trade and investment, in a way that benefits both countries.

They also reached a consensus to step up the exchange of delegations at all levels, especially in Party building and personnel training.

Both sides also discussed international and regional issues of mutual concern, particularly the global economic downturn and the situation in Asian–Pacific and Latin America , and pledged to support each other at international forums.

On the occasion, Raul Castro laid a wreath at the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and the Monument to Martyrs.

Also during the Cuban delegation’s visit, Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrila held talks with his Vietnamese counterpart Pham Binh Minh.
