The museum – Thanh Ha Cultural Terracotta Park – in Hoi An ancient town presents an overview of the history of terracotta in different countries and cultures around the globe.
The museum, spanning some 6,000 square metres, is the inspiration of Director of Nhaviet Netcom Nguyen Van Nguyen who designed it. He has been the curator since it opened in 2015. The creative impulse for its two main buildings is rooted in the ancient Champa culture. The park has a pottery museum, an outdoor exhibition area, Nam Dieu craft village, a camp for artists and a trade promotion centre. The outdoor exhibition area features miniature pottery sculptures of famous sites of Vietnam and other countries such as Stonehenge in Britain and the Statue of Liberty in the US. There is also a replica of the Leaning Tower of Pisa in Paris, the Pyramids of Egypt, and the Sydney Opera House. The museum is the recipient of many awards including having received a prestigious Ashui Award in 2016 from the Vietnam Urban Planning and Development Association. |
