The space is expected to open to the public early next year.

In an interview with Tuổi Trẻ (Youth) newspaper, Dinh Hong Phong, vice chairman of Hoan Kiem District’s People’s Committee, revealed that the cultural space would include bookstores, a public space for reading, cafés and events such as book launches.

“We won’t call it a book street, which might be mistaken for Hanoi’s existing book street on 19-12 Street. It will simply be a cultural space,” he said.

He added that Hoan Kiem District also plans to prohibit citizens from walking dogs there, in addition to expanding the pedestrian zone in the upcoming months.
