VietNamNet Bridge – In a bid to address performing activities, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MoCST) may revive the grant of practice cards to performers.
The local media has recently reported problems associated with performing activities like lip-sync, wearing scanty clothes, etc. The MoCST has organized a lot of meetings and seminars to seek measures for this situation.

Notably, the Ministry has asked radio and television broadcasters to ban artists who commit lip-sync or wearing scanty costumes from appearing on their shows.

At a meeting on June 29, the Ministry continued discussed measure to address problems of the performing industry.

Deputy Minister Ho Anh Tuan confirmed that fines would be increased while evaluation and licensing will be tightened.

The deputy minister asked the Performing Art Agency to consider granting practice licenses to performers.

In fact, practice cards were firstly issued in 1998-1999. However, it was seen as a ‘sub-license’ by experts who were in charge of checking the Enterprise Law. They asked the government to abrogate this kind of card.

After that, the Performing Art Agency has several proposed to resume this card.
