Under the baton of Canadian conductor Charles Olivieri-Munroe, who has been the NCPT's chief conductor since 1997, the 175-year-old philharmonic will play world famous classical music.

In Ha Noi on November 5, their repertoire will include the Intermezzo from the opera Goyescas by W. A. Mozart, the Overtune to the opera The Secret by Bedrich Smetana, the Hommage a Mozart by Jacques Ibert, and excerpts from A Midsummer Night's Dream by Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy.

The concert will also feature Vietnamese violinist Nguyen Huu Nguyen, who is a solo artist from the Orchestre National de France.

Nguyen won the Viet Nam National Music Contest in 1989, and two years later was "discovered" by famous French oboist-solo, Maurice Bourgue, of the Berlin Philharmonic, who supported him to pursuit further studies in France.

During the Toyota Classics 2013, accompanied by the North Czech Teplice, Nguyen will perform the Havanaise by composer Camille Saint-Saens. Alongside the Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso, Havanaise is an outstanding short work of violin by this French composer.

The 41-year-old artist will also present the 1978 three-part Zigeunerweisen (Gypsy Airs) by one of the great violinists of the 19th century – Pablo Sarasate.

Spanish trumpet soloist Manuel Blanco will also grace the stage during the Classics. Blanco has played with several of the world's leading orchestras, including the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Munich Radio Orchestra, the Budapest Chamber Orchestra, the Munich Chamber Orchestra, the Jeju Philharmonic Orchestra and the Spanish National Orchestra.

At the Ha Noi concert, Blanco will present the Trumpet Concerto in E flat Major Hob.ville-1 by Austrian composer Franz Haydn, the Oblivion by Argentinian composer Astor Piazzolla, and The Carnival of Venice by French composer Jean-Baptiste Arban.

Launched in Viet Nam in 1997, the annual Toyota Classics aims to present the world's leading classical musicians and orchestras to promote classical music to Vietnamese audiences and strengthen the exchange between Vietnamese and foreign artists.

The Vienna Chamber Orchestra, the Northeast German Philharmonic Orchestra, the Prague Chamber Orchestra and the Operetta Vienna Orchestra are among many orchestras to have played in previous Toyota Classics concerts.

The 2013 Toyota Classics will take place at the Ha Noi Opera House on November 5. All ticket proceeds will be donated to the Toyota Scholarship Programme to support Viet Nam's young music talent.
