During a recent meeting with Czech Health Minister Adam, Vietnamese Ambassador Thai Xuan Dung congratulated the Czech Republic on its effective vaccination and COVID-19 containment efforts, while extending his thanks to the central European nation for its timely and valuable support in terms of vaccine donation to Vietnam.
Both sides discussed a score of measures to intensify delegation exchange at all levels, and ramp up bilateral healthcare cooperation, with a particular focus on COVID-19 prevention and control that was touched upon during the phone call between the two prime ministers held on August 9.
Ambassador Thai Xuan Dung suggested the Czech side soon promote the transfer of the foresaid vaccines and support Vietnam in medical equipment and COVID-19 treatment drugs as well as help the nation have access to vaccine sources and the Union Europe (EU) vaccine production technology.
Regarding medical cooperation between the two countries, the local diplomat emphasized that Vietnam desires to augment cooperation with the Czech Republic on human resource training, and production of medical equipment and pharmaceuticals. He suggested the two sides should study and accelerate the signing of a cooperation agreement on sending Vietnamese nurses to work in the Czech Republic.
In response, Health Minister Adam Vojtech expressed his appreciation for the positive development of the traditional friendly relationship between the two countries, and said that his nation is set to deliver 250,000 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine to Vietnam soon. The Czech Ministry of Health will report to the government on Vietnam's proposal for cooperation in the fight against COVID-19, he added.
Adam Vojtech affirmed his support for measures to boost cooperation between the two countries in the medical field, especially in human resource training and sending Vietnamese orderlies to work in medical and nursing facilities of the Czech Republic.
He welcomed the investment project of the International Children's Hospital in the central city of Da Nang and promised to work with medical businesses to consider funding for the Vietnam- Czech Republic Hospital in Hai Phong.
The Czech Health Minister also showed his wish to visit Vietnam soon as a contribution to further strengthening the traditional friendship between the two countries.
