On November 19, 2025, during his state visit to Vietnam marking the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the Czech Republic, President of the Senate of the Czech Republic Miloš Vystrčil visited Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU) in Ho Chi Minh City.

As part of the official program, the Czech Senate President ceremoniously presented commemorative medals to two educators from TDTU for their outstanding contributions in education and for fostering academic ties between the two nations.

The two honored recipients were Dr. Tran Trong Dao, President of Ton Duc Thang University, and Dr. Phan Dao, Director of the university’s European Cooperation Center.

Czech Senate President presents flowers to the university's leadership and faculty on the occasion of Vietnamese Teachers' Day, November 20.

During his remarks, Miloš Vystrčil praised TDTU’s efforts in promoting academic exchange programs, scientific research collaborations, and education partnerships with higher education institutions in the Czech Republic. He emphasized that “TDTU is one of the most active and effective Vietnamese universities in partnering with Czech institutions,” significantly contributing to the deepening of traditional friendship between the two countries.

The Senate President also engaged in discussions with TDTU faculty and students about opportunities for collaboration in education, research, and innovation. He expressed hope for expanding student exchange programs between the two nations in the near future.

Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Tran Trong Dao expressed his deep appreciation for President Vystrčil's decision to visit and speak at the university. He emphasized the significance of the event coinciding with the celebration of Vietnamese Teachers' Day (November 20, 1982 – November 20, 2025), making it even more meaningful for the university’s academic community. Dr. Dao affirmed TDTU’s commitment to continuing the development of joint academic programs, research, and expanding international cooperation networks - particularly with universities and educational institutions in the Czech Republic.

The event marked a significant milestone in reaffirming Ton Duc Thang University's role in advancing educational and scientific cooperation between Vietnam and the Czech Republic. It also highlighted the institution’s contribution to nurturing a long-lasting friendship between the two countries.
